 Please Don’t Squeeze! Squeezing apples can cause bruising. Bruised apples spoil faster than unbruised.
 Keep handling to a minimum to preserve the quality of apples inside and out.
 Some apple varieties are very firm and some varieties are softer. The softer varieties bruise very easily.
 Fresh apples will have a characteristic “apple” fragrance - apples bought out of season can smell a little musty.
 Always select apples that are “in-season”. Apple Season in our area is from late-August through late October. Check with our staff to see what apples are currently being picked to be sure you are getting the freshest fruit possible!

Saturday, September 6th is the start! We have fresh Early Gold Apples, Michigan peaches, nectarines, and apricots. We will make fresh cider on Saturday and we make donuts every day!
Don’t forget to visit the Smoke House and get a brat or hot dog from our Brat Shop for lunch.

For these last few weeks in August, we have reduced prices on all fresh fruits on weekdays!  That’s right, come in any day from Monday through Friday and get the same fresh fruits at lower weekday prices. Seniors get the lower weekday price AND their senior discount on Tuesdays! This sale will last through August only so come in soon.

Michigan Blueberries

We have fresh Michigan Peaches and Blueberries in this week. The peaches are sweet and juicy! The blueberries are beautiful, large and available in pints or in 5 and 10 pound containers. If you bake, the larger containers are a good deal! A 5 pound container is the same as about 7 pints, and the 10 pound container is the same as about 14 pints (or a little more than a flat). The price is also better when buying in bulk! We also have just a few Michigan plums available. These are purple “Ontario” plums - great for baking or just eating!

We are making Donuts on Saturday and Sunday - and the Smoke House is open every day.

Our Hours are: EVERY DAY 9 am to 5 pm.

Harvest Time is open all week long.  Our hours are 9 am to 5 pm every day through the month of August.  We have plenty of fresh peaches and blueberries available during the week.
 
And if you didn’t already know, Tuesday is Senior’s Day.  Every Tuesday, seniors get 10% off their purchase - this makes it the BEST day for everyone 62 and older to get quality fruit at great prices!

We will have Michigan fruits in the store on Saturday, August 2!  It is just the beginning of the summer fruit season in Michigan because of the cool spring.  So for this weekend, we will have fresh Michigan peaches and fresh blueberries.  We will also begin to stock our freezer with other fruits. Beginning Saturday, we will have frozen strawberries, frozen red raspberries, frozen dark sweet cherries and 5 pound containers of frozen red-tart cherries.

As always, the Country Smoke House will be open and we will have fresh donuts on Saturday and Sunday.  

Beginning on Saturday, we will be open every day from 9 am to 5 pm.  (Donuts are made on weekends only in the summer).

There was an amazing number of cherries picked this year!  The first weekend brought in so many people that almost 90% of what was on the trees was picked.  Then on the 19th and 20th, people came in the rain and heat and picked just about everything that was left.  We’ve never had so many cherries picked so quickly!  WOW!

Now we start getting Michigan fruits.  There is nothing ready yet, but keep watching this blog to be the first to know when we get some great fruit here. We drive to Michigan every week to get the freshest fruit possible, so if you’re looking for quality, this is the place!

We had a nice bunch of people out to pick cherries this past weekend!  Lots of cherries were picked and the weather was wonderful - not too hot out there with nice sunshine.  Since so many cherries were picked, we will have picking for just another day or two - Saturday, July 19th is the next day for picking and if there’s any left, we’ll have picking on Sunday, July 20th too.  It looks like that will be the very last day to pick for 2008.  Please call the orchard before you come to see how it looks!Come out for the Smoke House and Fresh Donuts - We’ll have both on weekends through July. 

Red-Tart Cherry picking officially starts on July 12th.  Harvest Time is open from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.  The Country Smoke House and Donut Shop will also be open.  We are open on Saturdays and Sundays ONLY in July.  If you can’t make it this weekend, there should still be cherries available the following weekend (July 19th and 20th).  Come early for the BEST picking!

Harvest Time will open it’s 2008 season on July 5th with the Country Smoke House and Donut Shop!  Open in July on Saturdays and Sundays ONLY from 9 am to 4 pm.

Red-Tart (Sour) Cherry Picking will begin on July 12th at 9 am (on Saturdays and Sundays only).  Cherry picking should last for 2 weekends - we have lots of cherries this year!  Cherries are 95¢ per pound.
